40 Years of Bay Village

40 Years of Bay Village

3 min read

Bay Village recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in style, commemorating four decades of cherished memories and community spirit.

On February 14, 1984, the very first resident moved into Levande Bay Village Retirement Estate at Victor Harbor, on South Australia’s south coast.

Now, 40 years later, Bay Village remains home to more than 200 residents who enjoy living in a supportive and connected community.

Hosted by the resident social committee, the 40th birthday celebration was a testament to the vibrant atmosphere of our tight-knit community. From homemade cakes to savory delights like sausage rolls, the festivities were accompanied by flowing bubbles and speeches from Terri, our Village Manager, and Kevin, our CEO. The celebration concluded with everyone coming together to enjoy a slice of birthday cake, marking this milestone with joy and camaraderie.

Reflecting on their 23 years at Bay Village, long-standing residents Bernie and Pat shared their view on life within our community. Bernie and Pat, originally from the UK, have found peace in the tranquil surroundings of Bay Village.

The village's location, nestled amongst the hills and the coast, offers both convenience and serenity. Bernie and Pat fondly reminisced about forming close bonds with fellow residents, organising street parties, and participating in various social events, including the establishment of a successful Theatre Group.

Their advice to those considering retirement village living resonates with their own experience, embrace the opportunity early, immerse yourself in the vibrant community, and fully commit to the change of lifestyle.

As Bernie and Pat demonstrate, Bay Village is not just a place to live but a warm and welcoming community where cherished memories and lifelong friendships are made.

Here’s to many more years of happy residents.
