Close to Everything: Why Location Made the Decision Easy for Sid and Jan
For Sid and Jan Corby, location was everything when it came to choosing their next chapter — and The Cambridge in Epping couldn’t have been a better fit.
“For a couple who still head into the city regularly, the transport links were a huge drawcard,” Sid explains. “We used to park the car and walk to the station — now we can just stroll over and jump on the train. It’s right on our doorstep.”
The convenience has even prompted them to rethink their lifestyle. “We’re already talking about going down to one car,” Sid says. “And if that goes, we’ll still be fine. That’s the beauty of it — you can just walk or hop on a bus or the train.”
But transport was just the beginning. What appealed just as strongly was the promise of simplicity and peace of mind. “Being able to relax a bit — that’s what we’re looking forward to,” Jan says. “No more gardening all the time or picking up after other people. We can just go on holidays, lock the door, and know it’ll be safe when we get back.”
“We’ve never once said, ‘Are we doing the right thing?’ Not once. We’ve just been extremely happy.” – Sid Corby, future resident at The Cambridge
The decision to move came quickly — and surprisingly easily. “It was the first place I’d been remotely interested in,” Sid recalls. “We looked into it a bit more, and before we knew it, we were signing on the dotted line.”
From the outset, they felt assured. “We’ve always found the salespeople exceptionally good,” Sid adds. “No pressure, no hard sell. That’s comforting — especially with such a big decision.”
Since then, the sense of community has only confirmed their choice. Sid was delighted to reconnect with familiar faces at one of the first social events. “I’d coached soccer in the area years ago, and suddenly I was seeing people who remembered me. Kids I’d known — now grown up — coming over to say hello.”
For both Sid and Jan, it’s that mix of convenience, security, and belonging that makes The Cambridge feel like the right move. “We’re fairly social people,” Jan says. “And here, there’s always going to be someone to talk to — whether it’s in the lift, the shared spaces, or out walking around.”
