Bay Village’s Wildlife Warrior

2 min read

Meet Keith Walter, a Levande Bay Village resident and wildlife enthusiast. For over 13 years, he's been a devoted volunteer at Monarto Safari Park, spending almost every Tuesday volunteering there. Keith’s commitment to the park is unwavering as he states "I hate missing my days there!", with infectious enthusiasm.

After retiring in 2010, Keith joined a small group of volunteers, who are now known as ‘The Builders of Monarto", who dedicate their Tuesdays to various building projects across the park, from constructing fences and laying concrete, to building giraffe feeding pads!

Monarto Safari Park is home to many animals that are endangered or close to extinction in the wild. It's also the largest open-range safari experience outside of Africa, featuring over 50 species of exotic and native animals, making it the biggest zoo in Australia.

Recently coinciding with World Wildlife Conservation Day, on December 4th, and International Volunteer Day, on December 5th- Keith demonstrates the spirit of community and conservation, proving that one person's commitment can make a lasting impact on wildlife and inspire others to join the cause.
