Q: Is there a cost to enter the competition? A: No, there is no cost to enter, however the participant will need to purchase their own ingredients for their entries into the competition. Q: Is there a prize for the competition? A: Yes, the participant with the winning scones will receive an exclusive experience for them and their family at Centennial Vineyards in Bowral comprising cellar wine tastings plus wine for cellaring as well as a delicious Chef’s tasting lunch for 4 adults and 2 children in the restaurant. Q: When do entries to the competition close? A: Competitor entries will close on Thursday 27th February or when all the available competitor positions are filled. Q: When will the scones be judged? A: All submissions to be submitted by 10am, Thursday 6th March at the Village. The results will be announced at 11.30am. Participants will be required to remain onsite until the finalist has been announced and prize presented to the winning baker. Q: What if I want to enter the competition but I am unable to commit to these two dates? A: If you are unable to commit to both these dates, we request that you do not participate in the competition. Q: How will you communicate with me? A: All communication with participants will be via email so please ensure your email address is entered correctly when registering. As we will be communicating with you as a large group, please check your junk email for correspondence. Q: What is the judging criteria? A: Your plain scones will be judged as follows: - The scones should be approximately 5cm in diameter - Well risen, straight side, thin golden crust top and bottom - No flour on base - Fine, moist texture, good crumb, good flavour - Optional to glaze - Entries will be judged on appearance, evenness of size, colour, texture and flavour. - 1 dozen fresh scones should be brought to each judging session.
